Gulf of Castellammare

The gulf of Castellammare is a large and deep natural inlet going from Capo Rama (near Terrasini, in the province of Palermo) and Capo San Vito (near San Vito Lo Capo, in the province of Trapani).

This is a unique destination, little unusual from the more popular islands in Sicily and Sardinia. It is located on the western coast of Sicily and it faces the Tyrrhenian Sea, where you will be surprised find a real tropical beaches and isolated creeks with cristal clear sea water.

It will be not difficult to see dofins and turtles during the navigation in this part of Mediterranean Sea.

We can reach this gulf from Palermo (capital of Sicily) along the Gulf of Mondello, Capo Gallo Natural reserve, Isole delle Femmine (so called the island of women) and Terrasini passing by with Cala Rossa. The navigation from Palermo may be another occasion to discover Capo Gallo Natural Reserve which located in the far East of the Gulf of Castellammare.

West of Gulf of Castellammare is a unique sea area with one of the largest natural reserve in Sicily, The Zingaro natural reserve. This area with the clear sky water and Faraglioni and the turistic marina in Petrolo is perfect for snorkeling and relax during all period from the beginning of may up to October.

Very popular is San Vito with clear water and white sand, where you can be welcomed by the little village and its restaurants and bars.

Must see are: La Tonnara del Secco, Castelluzzo, Makari and Zingaro natura reserve, Women Island, Castellammare, Faraglioni, Scopello.

For those who love good sea food this is the place for them. You can decide to stop by one of the marinas and dine in one of the tipical restaurants you will find in Sferracavallo, San Vito, Scopello and Castellammare or Terrasini.
